Reference type (Dropdown) |
Used to select the reference type (Numbered item, Table, Image). |
2 |
Used to check this box then cross-reference will become a hyperlink. |
|
3 |
This is done to differentiate between the same referred items under same or two different work items. |
4. Select the reference type first. The reference(s) of the selected type appears after the reference type dropdown.
Numbered item: All the numbered list on the grid will be a part of the type “Numbered item”.
Note: Only ordered list (from Smart Editor in WI field) will be considered as "Numbered item" in cross-reference. "Unordered list" of Smart Editor is not supported in cross reference and a number showing with the work item title is not a part of cross reference.
Table: Table caption that will only be inserted from Smart Editor will be a part of the table caption option.
Image: Image caption that will only be inserted from Smart Editor will be a part of the image caption option.
5. Select anywhere in the Title and Description column where you want to add a reference. And then select any reference point from the list in the right panel after the reference type dropdown.
6. On clicking the Insert button, the references will be added on the grid.
Users have the option to navigate to their added reference points by enabling the "Insert as hyperlink" checkbox. By default, this checkbox is already checked, indicating that references will be inserted as hyperlinks.
To provide further clarity and differentiation between identical referred items that appear under the same or different work items, users can utilize the "Append parent numbering" checkbox. By default, this checkbox is already checked, ensuring that the parent numbering is included when referencing these items.
Note: If the reference type belongs to the root work item, the reference point will be appended by 0 (as show in the image below), provided the “Append parent numbering” checkbox is checked.
All the references within the selected work item are shown sequentially in the "All References" tab.
The user can delete any reference by clicking on the delete option, as shown in the image below. Once deleted, the reference will removed from the All Reference tab and from the grid.
