Modern Requirements4DevOps extends Azure DevOps into a full fledged requirements management tool.

Director of Sales at Modern Requirements, Dane Crawford introduced Modern Requirements and how over 20 years of client service, Modern Requirements is recognized as a “go-to” requirements partner for Microsoft. Its flagship product Modern Requirements4DevOps is the only natively built requirements management provider for Azure DevOps.

2. AI Requirements Management Leadership

Nicole Dezen, Chief Partner Officer and Corporate VP of Global Partner Solutions at Microsoft, showcases Modern Requirements as a key AI transformation partner at Microsoft Inspire 2023

Dane also mentioned how Modern Requirements is a recognized AI Transformation Partner for Microsoft at Inspire 2023 and that earlier this year at Microsoft Build 2024 also highlighted by Microsoft CTO Kevin Scott. He then introduced Copilot4DevOps, Modern Requirements’ industry-leading AI requirements management tool to create, analyze, and edit high-quality requirements from work item data. He mentioned updates to Copilot4DevOps, including token counts and custom instructions.

3. Updates to Industry Leading Tools

Shahla Joseph, Director, Client Success/Training took over for the product updates.

a. Copilot4DevOps V3 Enhancements

Shahla demonstrated Copilot4DevOps V3, now seamlessly integrated into Azure DevOps, showcasing advanced features that streamline tasks by accelerating requirements authoring, test case creation, and requirements review by up to 90%. This update brings the following features:

  1. The updated Impact Assessment tool now provides detailed compliance checks and impact explanations to enhance project coordination and management.
  2. A new tool called Q&A Assistance helps users efficiently create, manage, and generate work items with AI-suggested questions and answers, streamlining the requirements process. It works regardless of the process template.
  3. The analysis function now includes MoSCoW, SWOT, INVEST, and PABLO frameworks for expanded requirements and prioritization.
  4. A new feature called “Create Codeless App” was added to V3 which is linked to a product called Codeless One – a no-code tool that empowers users to build fully functional application prototypes. This feature supports project validation by creating dashboards, Gantt charts, and workflows without needing any programming experience. Codeless One is designed to help users refine requirements early, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations.

These capabilities are designed to increase both the accuracy and speed of requirements processes, making AI integration accessible and straightforward for users.

b. MR Academy

Modern Requirements has created free (for now) self-paced online learning tool with certificates.

Before she went into the specific updates for Modern Requirements4DevOps, Shahla also launched a new initiative in support of user training and adoption, called MR Academy, a self-paced online learning tool valued at $3,000 but offered free to users. Upon completion of each module, users earn certification, which they can showcase on platforms like LinkedIn. This academy aims to increase efficiency, drive ROI, and support best practices through structured, consistent training for users of all experience levels.

Modern Requirements4DevOps Latest Updates

While there were other features with updates and enhancements, Shahla selected a few to showcase to the audience at the Webinar and these included:

c. Version Package Management

The update introduced updates to Version Package Management, allowing users to save packages created from backlogs or Smart Docs directly into the Document Management System.

d. Document Management System (DMS)

DMS now supports a range of document control options, including versioning, check-in/check-out, and detailed tracking changes. This tool provides a centralized solution for managing requirements-related documentation, and the addition of enhanced editing options like redlining and track changes supports version accuracy and accountability across teams.

October 2024 brings several enhancements to the Document Management System on Modern Requirements4DevOps.

Shahla highlighted enhancements such as new controls for editing saved documents within the tool, including track changes, adding comments, creating a table of contents, comparing versions, and finding specific areas for delta versioning. These features aim to make document management more efficient and user-friendly.

e. Enhanced Smart Report and Trace Analysis

Users can now create and customize Smart Reports, which can be saved in various formats, including Word, PDF, and Excel, with options for separators and deeper configuration.

Updates to Trace Analysis allow users to push traceability matrices directly into the DMS for easy access and auditability. This update makes it simpler to visualize and manage connections across work items, helping teams ensure that requirements align with project goals and compliance standards.

f. Review Management and Admin Panel Updates

In response to user feedback, the Review Management module now includes an option to use Azure DevOps credentials for streamlined e-signature support, which simplifies the review process for CFR Part 11 compliance.

The Admin Panel offers advanced audit tracking, allowing organizations to monitor all changes in real-time, enhancing transparency and control.

4. Future Roadmap

As part of the session, Asif Sharif, Chief Technologist at Modern Requirements also joined in to share that upcoming updates for Copilot4DevOps will include the “Bring Your Own Data” service for custom LLMs, enhanced multiselect options for various tasks, and potential future support for multi-item elicitation in versions 4 to 6.
